Almost Summer

So much has happened over the weekend and the past couple of days.  Our computer has been acting funny for starters, but luckily Bert thinks he can fix it.  We celebrated a beautiful first Communion with my Dad's side of the family in Lexington this past Saturday.  Pete, my cousin, who was my ring bearer in my wedding did a fabulous job bringing up the candle during church!  We are so happy he can take Communion now!  It was a beautiful day Ava and Leo enjoyed playing outside the entire day, especially going down the mini roller coaster ride.  I can't believe how big my cousins are getting.  I used to babysit them when I was going to school in Lexington.  Pete was 2, Tim was 6 weeks, and Henry was in Kindergarten or first grade I'm not sure. They have grown up so fast!  Seeing my sweet cousins made me even more anxious to meet my little boy.  Not too much longer (7 weeks 4 days) to be exact but who's counting.  Needless to say I am just about done with being pregnant.  I don't hate it because hate is a strong word but I am just a little impaitent and ready to meet him.

In other news I have not been to work since Tuesday.  My director took me to my docotor's office on Tuesday morning because I passed out at work.  Well I did not really pass out I just got extremely light headed, dizzy, and sweaty (gross.)  It turns out this is all my fault.  I have not been taking my iron pills that my doctor prescribed for me.  I am anemic and probably worse now because I have not been taking them.  So I feel very guilty that I have not been keeping up with this because I could have fallen and really hurt myself.  I have learned my lesson and will be taking the iron everyday from here on out.  I have also been suffering from allergies/sinus issues.  My face swells up in the morning and I can hardly hold my head up until I put some hot compresses on.  So with all this mess going on I decided I needed some days off.  I think I am going to look into allergy shots or even surgery after the baby is born because my sinus and allergy problems are so severe.  I have a doctor's appointment today and will be updating all the stats of Alex.  Hopefully, she will say I am right on track and not measuring 4 weeks ahead like I was with Ava.  We have a ultra sound scheduled at 36 weeks just to check and make sure he is ok.  I can't wait to post the pictures.

Ava is a pleasant handfull.  She still is not talking.  We have our 18 month checkup with the doctor on May 18th and these issues will be addressed for sure.  I think she is very frustrated she can't communicate with us.  I will probably be calling first steps for some speech therapy after her checkup or closer to her 2nd birthday if things continue the way they are.  First steps is an amazing program that Kentucky offers to all children ages birth - three.  While I was in school I went on home visits with some of the therapists that work for first steps and got to write up some of my own family and behavior service plans.  I work with them on and off at my preschool as well.

Ava and I are looking forward to the summer.  We plan on going to the pool and getting some sun while we have fun before Alex comes.  I am not thrilled about getting into a bathing suit right now but you gotta do what you have to do in order for Ava to have fun at the pool and for me to get some glorious sun on this very pale body.  I have three weeks left of work.  I can't get over this. I am so used to my routine but I will form a new routine I know and everything will be fine.

THUNDER!

Yesterday was an awesome day all around.  We started out the day with some cleaning and yard work.  We wanted to come home to a clean neat house after Thunder.  I took care of the inside even mopping floors!  Bert and Ava took care of the outside.

After we all got cleaned up we headed downtown for the Bat's game then Thunder over Louisville!  By the time we found a parking spot we saw about 2 1/2 innings of the Baseball game and airshow.  This was fine by me because I don't think Ava would have sat for the entire baseball game.  We walked down to the waterfront after the Bat's game was over and made sure we got wristbands for coming back to the stadium to watch the fireworks.  Ava went down the big slide with Daddy at waterfront park, unfortunatley Mommy couldn't take her because they wouldn't let pregnant women ride (I really wanted to though.)  We also visited some Army equiptment and soldiers.  Ava really enjoyed all the festivities.

After dinner we had about an hour and half to kill before the fireworks so we just let Ava run wild on the lower level of the stadium, keeping a close watch of course.

When it was finally time for fireworks at 9:30 we were setteled in our seats and Ava watched with amazement.  She fell asleep the last 10 mins of it.  We really enjoyed ourselves, it was such a great day!  Thanks Dad for the Bat's tickets!

Easter 1,2, and 3!

We kicked off our Easter celebration on Saturday night with Bert's parents and a delicious dinner at Dittos.  Ava received her first Easter basket that had a bunny purse and two new dresses!  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa.  That night we dyed Easter eggs!

The next morning Ava found her Easter basket hiding in her car!  Ava loved eating all her candy especially the jelly beans and m&m's.

After church we went to eat brunch at my Mom and Dad's house, and later on had an Easter egg hunt with cousins Leo and Gus.  We relaxed after brunch and took Ava to the park.  Overall, it was a very peaceful day.

Almost 30 weeks!

I have not posted a pregnancy picture for awhile so here it is.  As I have said before I am huge!  My skin feels nice and stretched and I have 10 weeks left.  I am almost 30 weeks here. As previously stated Ava has transitioned very well into her new room and has not taken a pacifier in 2 weeks.  She gave it up all by herself!  Now she refuses to put it in her mouth.  This is wonderful news to me because she was too big for it, and I really didn't want it messing up her teeth.

My Mom and Marianne went to Baltimore and New York for spring break and brought back a ton of clothes for Ava and Alex.  Ava has already worn 3 of the outfits.  Thank you so much Mom and Marianne for the incredible clothes and shoes we really appreciate it!  We honestly do not need anything else for baby Alex!  We have so much!  My friend Jennifer is throwing me a pampers party.  Everyone that comes is going to bring a package of diapers.  I am really looking forward to seeing all of my friends!  I'm going to make this a short post because I will most likely be posting again for Easter!  Happy Easter everyone.

Yucky Fever

Yesterday Ava had a slight fever on and off and I chalked it up to teething since she has just about all her back teeth coming in.  However, last night her fever spiked to 104!  She has been active and eating okay.  She mainly wants to eat dry cereal and drink gatorade.  She has not thrown up or had any stomach issues.  I decided to take her to the doctor today so they could check her ears and so forth.  Her ears as usual looked awesome she has only had one ear infection so far.  They did a strep test because the doctor said her throat looked very red, swollen, and yucky.  It came back negative but they are going to let it sit overnight.  Right now they say it's probably a little virus.  What fun we are having on spring break!  I don't know what to feel.  Sometimes I just want to cry and then I get mad and upset I just hate that she is sick on spring break.  I wanted to spend time playing going to the park, maybe cincinnati and all I can do is hold her, rock her and watch movies.  I do feel a little selfish, I slipped out of the house today to get a pedicure while Bert did the constant nurturing for our sick little girl.  When the motrin kicks in Ava is a happy camper she is happy and satisfied playing with her kitchen.  When the motrin wears out she is miserable and very cranky, who can blame her?  I am praying tonight goes alot smoother than last night.  Ava got up screaming around 4:00a.m.  After her meds kicked in she wanted to sit in her car then play with her kitchen.  Bert and I both stayed up with her until around 6:00 before she went back to bed.  I was a nut case cleaning the house at 4:30 in the morning.  I do not want to get this little virus so I am constantly disinfecting everything.  I already feel a headache coming on but I tend to let things get to my head.

In other news Ava has moved out of her crib and old room,  She loves her new room and new big girl "twin bed."  She has made the transition very well!

As far as my pregnancy goes I feel and look like I could go into labor any day.  I am huge.  At this time when I was pregnant with Ava she weighed 5lbs.  I will probably have an ultra sound some time in late April and I can bet he will weigh about 6 1/2 lbs.  I passed my three hour glucose test, and I was very excited to hear this!  I am hoping he does not weigh more than 9lbs,9ounces because this is what Ava weighed and I could barely handle carrying her towards the end plus I didn't get any stretch marks!
