A trip to the mall

Bert and I were going to take Ava to the fair today, but we decided it was too hot. So we went to the mall to get Ava a new pair of shoes, and shop around a litle bit.  Sadly, Ava is a 3 1/2 and we could'nt find anything that fit her very well.  She might have to do with what she's got until she is a size 4.

We think the mall turned out to be just as much fun for little Ava.  She enjoyed riding in her stroller, touching clothes as Mommy and Daddy shopped, sipping on Mommy's drink, and best of all riding the Mickey Mouse ride.  The smallest of things make me happy these days.  Just watching her little face light up as the car rocked back and forth was enough to make me happy for a long time.  She is so cute and sweet I can't stand it.  She is such a good little girl.  Bert and I wanted to eat dinner at BJ's after we were finished walking around the mall even though it was Ava's bedtime.  Ava held up very well.  We didn't get home until after 10:00!  This is late for Ava considering she goes to bed at 8:00/8:30.

Coming soon to the Lousiville, zoo

Saturday was so cool!  We went to the zoo with Bert's AIA (American institute of architects) group.  We were able to go behind the gate and pet Scotty the baby elephant'.  We also ate lunch in a room where you could see the animals through the big glass window.  During the lunch they gave a presentation on the new polar bear exhibit called Glacier Run.  In Churchill, Canada there are lots of polar bears on the brink of extinction.  Architects and students from Louisville have gone here to research polar bears and the town.  Glacier run will be a replica of the town.  If anyone has been to Disney World lately and seen any of their attractions this is what Glacier Run will look like.  Disney likes to make their attractions as realistic as possible even flying in people from around the world to work in the countries they re-created at their Epcot park.  Glacier run will be the same may minus the flying in of people to work at the Louisville zoo.  Glacier run will also feature seals and sea otters.  This whole project will stretch over 5 acres, and take five years to complete.  Exciting times are coming for the Louisviille zoo!

Uncle Tommy

We have been having a wonderful week spending time with our beloved uncle Tommy!  We missed him so much, and are so excited he is finally here.  Last night we ate dinner once again, and then decided to have a good laugh watching old home videos.  It was a great night.

In other news we had our annual commisioning day for school on Friday.  Lots of changes are taking place where I work.  My school's name changed from Ursuline Child Development Center to Sacred Heart Preschool.  Montessori is no longer.  The two preschools are combining and are no longer in competition with one another.  Marketing thought this would be better and so do I.  Parents have asked that the name be changed for years in fear Ursuline Child Development Center sounds too much like day care and not preschool which we truely are a preschool  The title Ursuline Campus Schools will no longer be used either.  The campus is now refered to Sarcred Heart Schools on Ursuline Campus.  Every school on campus has the same logo with a different color heart.  I am so excited about this change I feel it really will bring the five now four schools on campus closer together.

Weekend Fun

It has been a great weekend.  We went to Long Run Park on Saturday and had a good time.  Ava went down the slide all by herself, not such a great idea I don't know what I was thinking.  She loved the swings and we had a small picnic with a few snacks by the lake.  Saturday night Bert and I went to a couple's shower for my friend Emily.  I will be a bridesmaid in her wedding October 25th!  We both enjoyed ourselves and I had so much fun I decided to go out with my friends afterward.  Sometimes I feel I am missing out on things because I am not going out all the time with my friends, and when I say going out I mean at night to the bars. I realize that I am not missing out on anything, that part of my life is over and I am glad of it. The bar scene is just not my thing anymore, there is way more to my life now. It is nice to have a night out with friends every once in awhile and don't get me wrong I did  have a great time!  I am just so thankful I have Bert and Ava to come home to.  They are the best thing I have ever done with my life. The most exciting part of the weekend is yet to come, Tommy comes in around 5:30 tonight!!!!  I am sooooo excited I have not seen my brother in a very long time.  Yeah we love you Tommy!  Please enjoy both videos!

Nine Months

Ava's nine month birthday is today!  Her appointment went very well.  She weighs 21 lbs, and is 27 1/2 inches long.  Ava is pulling up and as Bert and I call it transfering from one piece of furniture to another.  I can't believe in three months we will be celebrating her one year birthday.  Here are some photos of Ava in the earlier months, enjoy!

Too good to pass up

I recently made a purchase for Ava again.  This time it was not clothing but bedding.  There is talk about having another baby and this got me thinking about having to move her out of the nursery.  I wanted bedding that was durable, would grow with her, and pink.  I got two out of the three.  This bedding is designed by Lilly Pulitzer a pretty high end designer.  This exact bedding "roma" sells for two hundred dollars regular price.  The pepermint palm had the bedding on sale for one hundred and forty nine dollars.  I think I am an excellent shopper, I purchased this twin quilt for thirty nine dollars.  The pillows were very cheap too!  I can't believe how cheap I got this.  I know she will have this for a very long time, the quality of the fabric and materials are great.  It may be awhile before she sleeps in her new room with her new bed, but it's ok at least it's all taken care of and ready for her when the time comes.  No I am not pregnant for those who are wondering.  I am a big planner.  I like things mapped out for me and I love routines and schedules.  This is another reason I felt the need to get this done even thought Ava is only nine months old.  Speaking of nine months, Ava has her doctor's appointment on August 7th and I will be updating everyone on how her checkup goes.  Until then have a great week!
