A Sick Halloween

Ava missed out on trick or treating this year, but thats ok I don't think she was upset.  Ava had a fever Thursday night, well really early Friday morning.  Bert and I were up at 11:00, 1:00, and 2:30.  We gave her some Tylenol and juice and she finally slept until 6:30.  I had to go into work for my school' s Halloween party, but I left shortly after that.  Bert also ended up staying home, and we both took her to the doctor at 11:30.  The doctor said she looked great, her ears, throat, nose, but to keep her away from other kids for 24 hours so we did.  The doctor said it was probably a little virus.  It scared me though because Ava has never been that sick before.  Ava has had a pretty clean bill of health.  I guess that was a reminder of what it will be like to have a newborn baby again.  How easily you can forget how tiring it is to have a baby get up all night when you are used to them sleeping all night.  I remember the first night Ava slept 5 hours straight, she was about 2 weeks  old and I felt like I had won the lottery and was ready to go run a marathon.  I wonder what I will be like with my second child.  I worry constantly about Ava.  Even when she would fall back asleep Iast night I was trying to hear her every breath on the monitor.  People say you ease up when you have another child, but I don't see myself doing that.  I think I get all my worrying from my Grandaddy, he was big on worrying.  Ava is doing just fine now.  She never lost her appetite the whole time she was sick, she was just having fevers.  She was walking around playing and having a good time last night.  After we had dinner I put her to bed at 8:30,  and she is still sleeping (it's about 8:30 in the morning right now.)

Overall, it's been a good Halloween we enjoyed going to the Zoo's Halloween party, my school's Halloween party last Saturday, and she picked out some great pumpkins!  Ava can't eat candy anyway.

Huber's Family Farm

We decided to make a visit to Huber's farm to get some pumpkins, and visit some of the animals at the petting zoo.  We tried to eat at Huber's restaurant but it was booked for the day.  I had no idea the restaurant was that popular and you had to make reservations in advance. I guess you live and ya learn.  We had a great time Ava enjoyed every minute of it

A Beautiful Wedding!!!!

Bert and I went to Emily and Eric Sailing's wedding last night and it was absolutely gorgeous!  The rehearsal dinner was at Big Springs Country Club which was very familiar to us both.  I feel like I grew up at Big Springs.  Every Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, Anniversary, and other big days we would go here with my Grandparents and celebrate the special day.  We would even tap dance on the fire place and put on shows for some people.  We also loved to sneak as many chocolate mints as we could.  If we were really feeling daring that day we would sneak downstairs to the woman's locker room, that was for adults only.  I really thought this was a big deal, and I remember thinking how much trouble we could get into if we were caught!  I think of these memories every time I walk through the door.  Those were very happy times!

Emily and Eric's wedding ceremony was at St. Boniface Catholic church.  It was great to see one of my best friend's get married to such an awesome guy.  Father Nick was the priest and I thought he gave an excellent homily.  One particular thing that stood out to me was when he said you have to love each other everyday whether you feel like it or not.  Let's face it there are days when you feel like you could just use a break from loving your spouse.  He also said if you ever need to look up to a role model of love, of course you can look up to your parents but look up to Jesus as well.  Jesus had such an everlasting selfless love for everyone.  I try to remember that when I want my way about something that really is insignifacant.  It's not like me to talk about religion, I feel it should be a private thing, but the wedding last night just really reminded me that marriage is such a blessed event in your life.  My marriage means the world to me and it's something you have to work at everyday.  It has already in two years made me a stronger person, and I love it.

The wedding reception was at the Muhamad Ali center.  All I can say is GORGEOUS!  The wedding took place at night.  Through the large glass windows you could see the ohio river.  The lights were dimmed the tables were beautiful.  Her colors were black and dark pink.  Her dress was very simple and classy.  The whole wedding was just awesome.  I know she has been looking forward to this for a long time, I think all her dreams came true last night. Bert and I left around 9:15. That was really early, but I was pretty exhausted and started to get a really bad headache. We did enjoy ourselves and we will always remember her wedding.  It was an honor to be a bridesmaid.

Happy Two Year Anniversary

Today was my wedding Anniversary!  We have been happily married now for two years.  Bert's parents watched Ava for us while we ate a delicious dinner at Mojitios!  We thought about going to a fancy restaurant, or maybe even to the Brown Hotel where our reception was.  We decided to keep it simple.  We treated ourselves after dinner to a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks.  As far as gifts go I told Bert not to get me anything but he did anyway.  He got me a new pair of pink pajamas, and a dozen pink roses.  For those of you that don't know, pink is my favorite color, and I love pajamas.  I even like to put them on when I get home from work.

My gift to him was way better I have to say.  I decided to share with him some great news, I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yes, thats right Bert and I will be having another bundle of joy at the end of June.  I am so excited and anxious, I can hardly wait to meet the new member of the family.  I am currently about 1 month pregnant.  My doctor will not let me have the baby naturally since Ava was born by C- section, and so this baby will also be delivered by a C- section.  This is fine by me, Bert and I will be able to pick out his/her birthday.  I will still be nervous and scared that day, but at least I know what to expect.  Bert of course is praying (literally asking people to light candles it's a boy,) but I have a feeling we might have another little girl.  Either way we will be happy and blessed!

Overall, I think our two years of marriage has been amazing, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with my sweet, handsome, caring, loving, and smart best friend!

Halloween at the Zoo

Bert and I took Ava to the zoo for the "world's largest Halloween party."  It went pretty well considering Ava had no nap the entire day which has absolutely never happened before.  She was only cranky when I insisted she sit with the characters for pictures.  I am not sure why I was so persistant, I guess I thought she would eventually warm up to them.  Ava also did not like the idea of wearing face paint.  I tried my best to draw a bunny face on her, but she simply was not having it.  There were so many cute costumes, I will have to come up with something great for next year.  I am not sure what we will be doing for the real Halloween night, but I know it will be fun!  Like everyone else in Louisville we will be making the trip to Huber''s family farm next weekend.

Happy Ava

This weekend has been very busy but wonderful.  I did not have to go to work today and all those thoughts about wanting to stay home with Ava came flooding back to me.  I go back and forth constantly.  I'll be fine with me working and then I won't be.  I know I have blogged about these thoughts before.  Anyway, about the weekend, we campaigned for my Dad on Saturday and Sunday.  We also attended Caroline's Baptism.  It was a beautiful day, and Caroline was so good.  Little Ava screamed throughtout her entire Baptism!

Now for a little bragging time about Ava.  Well, I really would'nt call it bragging it's just some glorious information about Ava.  Ava continues to take some steps (still no video) and be her happy little self.  She is so cheesy!  She is the happiest baby ever.  She eats whatever I give her, she goes to sleep by herself, and she is simply the best ever!  We went to Toys R Us today with my Mom because she wanted to pick out a birthday gift for Ava.  We went up and down the doll aisles and Ava loved everyone of them.  You could give Ava anything for her birthday and she would go nuts over it.  Every doll she held she could'nt stop smiling and hugging them.  She loves to give everyone hugs and kisses.  She is the sweetest little girl. She is everything I have ever dreamed of.  I love her so much!

Tonight we went to my friend Ashley's house and carved some pumpkins.  She has such a cute house.  Thank you so much Ashley for the food, carving utensils, and awesome company.  Ava's birthday invivtations will be mailed soon!

11 MONTHS!

I took some pictures of Ava in the dress she is going to wear at her one year birthday party.  The invites are so cute.  We made picture invites at Target!  There are lots of people invited to this party.  We figured it's her one year so we will go big for it.

St. James Art Fair

Over the weekend we went to the St. James art fair.  It was very very crowded.  I didn't see much for little girls but I did find a painting I liked.  It was very pricey so we decided to pass on it.  I attended a bachlorette party on Saturday and I had so much fun with all the girls.  As I have said before I simply could not handle going out every weekend.  My body can't handle it.  I don't know how I managed to do it in highschool and college.  Alcohol wears down your body yuck!

It is impossible to get footage of Ava walking.  She does it when she feels like it, and it's very random.  I never have the camera when I need it.  This footage will have to do for now, enjoy.

Ava Walks!!!!!!

Ava took her first steps this week.  Of course, I cried, I was so happy sad excited, and nervous all at the same time.  I don't think she will really be walking for another couple of weeks, but I think it's really amazing she is taking four and five steps at 10 well almost 11 months old.  I am so proud of her, yeah Ava!!

In other news school is going great.  The children in my room are wonderful and adjusting to the routine very well.  Conferences are coming up very soon and I am looking forward to some days off to spend with Ava.  Bert and I have been very busy lately so I have not had alot of time to update.  We have something to do every weekend in October, and I'm not just talking about a Saturday or Sunday.  We are booked Friday Saturday and Sunday every weekend! Yikes!
