Just Because

Just because we felt like having a little fun we took the kids up to Homemade Ice cream and Pie Kitchen after dinner last night.  Alex enjoyed some of Daddy's pie and ice cream and Ava picked around but really didn't eat anything.  I think she just likes to look at the cup cakes and decorated cookies rather than eat them, which amazes me. For dinner my 9 month old ate mashed potatoes, kale, green beans, corn bread, and baked apples.  You would never know he was in the 25 % for weight by the way he eats.  I feel so fortunate my kids love veggies and all types of food.  Their new favorite is Lebanese food!  We are preparing for Easter around here.  I finally got out my Easter decorations and am looking forward to filling the kids Easter baskets this year!  The film we got of Ava finding her Easter basket last year is priceless!  I can't wait to spend time with all of our family this Sunday. My life is blessed, thank you God!

Cousins

We were so happy all the cousins could get together and play for a dinner date tonight.  I'm glad Ava and Alex will be close to their cousins.  How could she not be? Leo and Ava are 13 months apart, Gus and Ava are 6 months apart, and Alex and Tillie are 8 weeks apart!  It also helps that my Sister and I talk sometimes up to four and five times a day.  Here are a few pictures from the evening.  We actually celebrated Mitchell's birthday but somehow I managed not to get a picture of the birthday boy.  We love you Mitchell, Happy 29th Birthday!

Stats and Pics

Alex weighs 19 lbs and is almost 27 inches long putting him in the 25% for weight and height.  He is in the 60th percentile for head circumference, I forget the exact number.  Here are some more pictures that I have been playing around with in Picasa.

Nine Months

Alex is now nine months old.  I wanted to wait and do this post on Tuesday when we go to the doctor but I couldn't, so I will update his stats later on.  Here is what Alex is up to.

-Moving EVERYWHERE! He crawls or scoots rather up and down the halls room to room very quickly.  He gets up on his knees and rocks back and forth, but mainly army crawls very fast.

-Trying to pull up on things but I have not seen him do it successfully yet.

-Eats anything and everything.  He mainly eats table food.  For example last night we had pasta, peas, and bread.  I just cut up small pieces for him and also cut up a little banana.  He chews everything so well.

-He has three teeth.  Two on the bottom and one on the top.  The other front tooth is poking through as well as the two beside the two front teeth.

- He has an incredibly sweet personality.  Very healthy, happy, and easy going.

-He just recently took a passy!  Which is great for car rides because he didn't really like them before.

-He continues to say "Da Da"  and babbles.  He loves putting his hand up to his mouth and moving it back and forth to feel the effects of his voice.

-He continues to be a great sleeper.

-His hair looks blond ...I am shocked considering Bert's color of hair.

We LOVE this little boy so much!  I edited these pictures in Picasa.  It was my first go at it.  I tried photoshop and decided I am not ready for that.  Picasa was very easy to use.  I love it.  Thanks to my sister for telling me about it who heard it from her friend Kelly!

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate St. Patrick's day I took the kids to the zoo for the first time this year!  I'm not sure what happened to the weather it was supposed to be 62 and sunny but it ended up being in the 50's and cloudy.  Weather aside we had a great time!  Alex was his perfect self, and Ava was good for me.  She wanted to hold my hand the entire time.  I think she got a little nervous with all the the different animal noises going on.  When we entered the Gorilla exhibit one of the gorillas kept getting closer to her and thats when she said "okay, okay, go Mom."  She took my hand and we left the exhibit.

These are the days I cherish and appreciate the fact that I get to stay home with my kids and not miss a thing!  It out weighs the few and I do mean FEW moments when I long to go to work just so I can have a lunch break or planning period, something, anything just to be alone for a few moments, and then the feeling goes away when I see things like today for instance when Ava for the first time tried to sing the entire song "the circle"  from one of her movies.  I teared up just listening to her sweet voice trying to get out the words and stay in tune.  As I have mentioned before she is talking a lot more but everything pretty much sounds the same because she is working on articulation.  All in all my life is amazing!  I do wish my husband could find a job, but we are hanging in there and chalking this up to a small bump in the road that will lead to bigger and better things for us.  I applaud my husband for working so hard for us seven days a week at something he hates.  I know better things will come, we just have to be positive and patient. I put in some pictures from our walk the night before.  I could not take alot of pics at the zoo because I was by myself.   My little man's 9 month post is coming soon!

A Change of Plans

Plans changed for us this Saturday. Bert and I were supposed to be drinking and hanging out with friends all day at the St. Patrick's day parade on Bardstown Rd, but our kids got the best of us.  They were such sweet angels this morning playing and laughing that is was hard to picture our day any other way but with them.  We took them to lunch at Gattiland and then out to the barn to visit Mimi and Granddaddy's horse.  Ava was super thrilled about feeding the horses some peppermints. I had just gone out the night before and partied it up with the girls so I didn't feel too bad about canceling.   However, later this evening we decided to attempt to go for a drink with no success.  It was insane!!  People sloshing drinks, crowded, yelling, and everything was stinky!  I honestly think I am finally growing up and this just doesn't interest me anymore what so ever.  Bert and I ended up having a nice dinner just the two of us, and on the way home we stopped at Homemade Ice Cream and Pie kitchen to get our princess a shamrock cookie.  She was thrilled!

Ava has been talking alot more. We are working on her articulation at home.  Her new favorite thing to say is "OK."  She can be such a sweetie sometimes, and other times a REAL challenge but we love her always!!  Alex is amazing!  He is getting ready to turn 9 months old.  I can't wait for his 9 month checkup to get all his stats.

Spring

We have definately been taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather.  Lots of trips to the park, playing outside at Mimi's house and our house.  The weather is so exciting!  Here are a few pictures of  the outdoor fun.
